UPDATE: The Stumble Inn Long Eaton have stepped in(n) to take the date...nice! Thank you so much to all the venues that enquired and to all of you lovely sharers, likers and commenters, it's very much appreciated. Hopefully we'll see some of you there!

******************************************************************************

Sigh, here we go again...we're now free on Fri 13th December as our Crompton Arms gig is cancelled, so if anyone's interested in booking us for this date give us a shout...or if you know of anyone who might be interested we'd be grateful if you could share.

But how did you find out this gig was cancelled we hear you ask? Did the venue tell you? Ha! Of course not, one of you lovely lot told us. Again.

Strap yourselves in, it's hard to get all this out in a short post. Over a year ago in August of 2023 we were booked for this gig (along with two others for this year, both of which we've done, and very nice nights too.) The venue have now taken a 'private' party for this date, who have their own act booked, and binned us. (None of this is the other act's fault by the way.) Now, we know times are hard for venues and the appeal of taking on a party where the act is already provided is pretty obvious. But here's the thing, we regularly get asked to knob off dates we already have booked in order to play a party instead, and we've never done it, even when we'd really like to oblige, and in the face of some quite lucrative offers. Because we were booked to play those places FIRST. That's how it works for us, but the same rules don't apply to some venues, eh. The very least we'd expect is to find out from the horses mouth.

And here's another thing...those of you with good memories will recall that the same people, same venue cancelled our gig there in December of last year, due to 'budget cuts', and at short notice. On that occasion The Pear Tree swiftly stepped in (cheers lads, and a very, very nice night it was too) but it's unlikely that's feasible this time...mostly because we're already playing there this New Years Eve. (Looking forward to it, tell your friends!)

If you've been bonkers enough to read this far, thanks! Hopefully you'll understand why we're annoyed enough to have potentially wasted your valuable time.
